This year’s Club Challenge timber was American walnut (juglans nigra).

Each member was provided with a piece measuring 240mm x 250mm x 40mm – an example is shown in the gallery below. This is known as a “super-foot”, a volumetric measurement used in the timber industry corresponding to 144 cubic inches.

The timber this year was generously supplied by The Bearded Bloke Timber Collective of Oak Flats, who also had a wonderful selection of slabs, boards and turning blanks on display across the Expo weekend.

The winner of the People’s Choice award this year was Keith Houston with his take on a two-person outback dunny (entry #8).

Second place was awarded to Ted Batty for his latticework rim bowl (entry #5).

Third place was awarded to Tom Loosz for his well-crafted cheese serving board (entry #2).

Congratulations to the winners, and a heartfelt thanks to all who entered and helped make this another enjoyable event.
